Owa Afrikan Market was established on July 4, 1994 to address the needs of customers living in New York City seeking authentic clothing and crafts from Africa. The term, “Owa”, means home in the Edo language. Owa is a fair trade business that buys directly from African artists and suppliers and imports these goods for your convenience.

We began as an African clothing and fabric store. However, driven by customer demand our inventory has expanded to now include different items directly from Africa – such as food, musical instruments, music and movie videos, books, toiletries, wood carvings, and spiritual and religious items. We also carry a variety of Ifa, orisha, and medicinal herbs for Babalowos, Santeros, Paleros, and Onishegun. We sell only the highest quality products and we take pride in serving you!

Owa continues to grow. So if you can not make it over to Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, do not worry, because we now offer shipping of all retail and wholesale orders to anywhere in the United States and most countries overseas.

Now, we invite you to browse our site to view some of our most popular products. If you do not see exactly what you are looking for send us an e-mail or give us a call…we probably have it in stock.

If you’re seeking answers to any questions regarding religious items, we have a Spiritual Consultant who can answer any questions you may have regarding the African religion and medicinal herbs. He speaks Yoruba, Spanish, and English fluently. Feel free to contact us.
