Black History Month Screening Sweet Sweetback’s Badassss Song

Join us as we pay homage to Mr. Melvin Van Peebles’ first independent feature, Sweet Sweetback’s Badassss Song, a film commensurating 44 years since it’s release in 2015.   Written, directed, produced and scored by Mr. Van Peebles, Sweet Sweetback successfully challenged the notion perpetuated by Hollywood that films featuring strong, “militant” characters were unprofitable, leading to the creation of the “Blaxploitation” genre.
