WHO WE ARE
The Reader’s Choice opened in 1989 as Wisconsin’s first and only Black American owned full service book store. The owners, Robert & Carla Allison, filled a long standing void in the Milwaukee area by focusing on books authored by Black and other minority authors. We have expanded to become a “go to” source for Kwanzaa supplies, Greek pari, and small gifts. Today, 25 years later, The Reader’s Choice continues to provide the “best in literature by minority authors” while helping hometown authors reach a wider
